Olivia and myself arriving in Phoenix

Getting off the plane in Phoenix, Arizona two days ago can only be described by one word, relief. Arriving at the JW Marriott Resort fueled the excitement I could feel running through my body. Picture sun, sand, palm trees, and a lazy river, this resort is beautiful. Having gotten to the conference two days early I have been enjoying warm sunshine, shopping and good company. But until today I didn’t realize how the resort was just hosting the actual good stuff… approximately 700 young farmers and ranchers have come together to create change.

The conference officially kicked off this morning with the President of American Farm Bureau stating,

“We have fewer numbers. That wont make us less relevant but we will have to work harder.”

This statement set the tone for the rest of the day, the Marriott’s ballrooms were then filled with agriculturists taking part in sessions put on by American Farm Bureau. The two sessions I was able to attend focused on the 2013 Farm Bill, and social media. I was BLOWN away by the presentations as well as the conversations happening around the room. Not only was I learning about what i could do in my local home state but I got to hear about what other agriculturists were doing around the nation.

It is safe to safe that I am inspired and in awe of the American Famers and Ranchers taking part in this amazing conference. I feel very blessed to be able to call myself one of them.
